Community Media Directory 2011

May 2011 — An updated version of the Community Media Directory, A Resource Listing of Print and Broadcast Media in and around Champaign County, Illinois, is now available for download as a printable PDF.  [Download Community Media Directory (PDF)]

The Community Media Directory provides detailed contact information for area media outlets and is designed for non-profits looking to place PSAs, community calendars items and other community announcements.  It is provided as a community service by Carle Public Relations.

The directory is not restricted in any way. Please feel free to copy and disseminate as needed.

Senior Transportation Directory

February 2009 — A detailed online listing for Champaign County, Illinois, is now available: Senior Transportation Directory.  Also available in downloadable PDF format.

The Senior Transportation Directory was created through the leadership of the Family Service Senior Resource Center with funding through the Carle Foundation Hospital’s Senior Impact Project.

Champaign County Senior Guide

The Champaign County Senior Guide (607K, PDF) is a resource book to help seniors, family members and professionals identify options for assistance and support, whether it be emergency numbers, in-home service, financial management, advance directives, or meal management. Guía de Recursos y Servicios

June 2008 — A Spanish-language version of the Champaign County Community Resource Guide in Spanish. The updating and translating of this resource directory is a project of the Service Providers for Latino Families (SELF) committee of the Latino Partnership. This quick reference guide lists a variety of resources including support services and educational programs for families with young children in Champaign County. Report on Senior Issues

In September 2007, The Carle Foundation brought together a focus group to discuss senior issues with specific emphasis on healthcare, poverty, unmet needs, and gaps in service. [Download Senior Issues Focus Group Report (PDF, 200K).]

Most participants are employed by human care agencies which have services for seniors, and some are employed by a variety of health organizations. Topics discussed included identification and opinions about the perceived most profound problems facing seniors, those specifically related to poor seniors, health-related issues, and the different concerns faced by “younger” seniors, 50-64 years of age, and “older” seniors, 65 years and over. Specific subjects also included gaps and unmet senior needs and stumbling blocks related to solving these needs.
